ELYSIAN FIELDS (©2008 by Kaika Kale)

Smell of incense fresh on your skin
Smell of Lilacs carried in the wind
The memories rise and betray my lips
Remembering why I was set adrift with you

I’ve seen the sunrise on Elysian Fields
I’ve seen the moon go down on hungry seas
I’ve run through the cobbled, flooded streets
Made love beneath burgundy, satin sheets

From Parisian Quarters to Hollywood
Lost in translation, not understood

Promises made late at night
Regrets usher in the morning light
The telephone rings and you scurry home
Naked, confused, but not alone

Does he know where you’ve been out all night?
Or are you too tired to care or fight?

I’ve seen the sunrise on Elysian Fields
I’ve seen the moon go down on hungry seas
I’ve run through the cobbled, flooded streets
Made love beneath burgundy, satin sheets

From Parisian Quarters to Hollywood
Lost in translation, not understood

Is it any wonder, why we wonder
Memories of another start
Is it any wonder, why we wonder
I think I should just let you go

I’ve seen the sunrise on Elysian Fields
I’ve seen the moon go down on hungry seas
I’ve ran through the cobbled, flooded streets
Made love underneath burgundy, satin sheets

From Parisian Quarters to Hollywood
Lost in translation, not understood
Reinvent ourselves and we change our names
Fall back in love but it’s just don’t feel the same

I’ve seen the sunrise on Elysian Fields
I’ve seen the moon go down on hungry seas
I’ve ran through the cobbled, flooded streets
Made love beneath those sheets
